THE #1 SCOLIOSIS SCREENING APP — TRUSTED IN 75+ COUNTRIES
Developed by Dr Kevin Lau, D.C. — Founder of ScolioLife and NGO Representative to the United Nations
Scoliometer turns your Android phone into a digital scoliometer for fast, non-invasive scoliosis screening. Built by Dr. Kevin Lau, D.C., it measures the Angle of Trunk Rotation (ATR) — the same screening measurement clinicians use during the Adam's Forward Bend Test.
Used by chiropractors, physiotherapists, orthopaedic and spine professionals, school nurses, and parents in clinics and homes worldwide, Scoliometer makes spinal curvature screening simple, fast, and affordable.
WHY USE SCOLIOMETER
Measures Angle of Trunk Rotation (ATR) from 0° to 50° — a wider range than a standard handheld scoliometer
Uses your phone's motion sensors for consistent, repeatable ATR readings
Screens for spinal asymmetry, from mild changes to larger scoliosis curves
Clean, intuitive interface designed for quick checks
Suitable for children, adolescents, and adults
Available in 17 languages
HOW IT WORKS
Ask the person to perform the Adam's Forward Bend Test — bending forward at the waist with arms hanging down.
Place your phone flat across the spine, centred on the upper back.
Slide the phone gently down the spine, keeping it in contact.
The app reads the Angle of Trunk Rotation (ATR) and highlights any spinal asymmetry that may warrant professional evaluation.
WHO IT IS FOR
Health professionals — chiropractors, physiotherapists, paediatricians, and school nurses who want a quick digital scoliometer for routine checks.
Parents and caregivers — monitor a child's spine during growth spurts, between clinic visits.
Individuals — track posture, back alignment, and spinal health over time.
DEVICE COMPATIBILITY
Scoliometer measures rotation using your device's built-in accelerometer and gyroscope motion sensors. It works on Android phones equipped with these sensors. Most modern Android phones include them; very old or low-cost devices without motion sensors may not display accurate readings.
